Where does Sociability get its accessibility information from?
The vast majority of accessibility information on Sociability comes from trained Sociability mappers who visit and document places. Alongside this, we also gather detailed accessibility information through:
Accessibility mapping projects with organisations;
Businesses and organisations contributing information through guided or managed processes;
Community contributions submitted directly by users through the app; and
Smart Tagging and Smart Alt-Text, which use AI to suggest accessibility tags and image descriptions from photos of places. These are always clearly labelled, and only tags checked by a person can become Sociability Verified.
This mix helps us provide reliable, detailed and accurate accessibility information at scale, balancing our goal to provide accessibility information in as many places as possible against the need for this information to be of the highest quality.
