About Sociability

Sociability is a disability-led technology company helping Disabled people explore the world with confidence. Our platform makes it easier to find and share detailed accessibility information about places and spaces across the UK, from cafés, restaurants and shops to workplaces, public buildings, events and venues.

Rather than simply labelling somewhere as “accessible” or “inaccessible”, Sociability provides detailed information about individual access features. People can check things such as step-free access, accessible toilets, seating, lighting, noise and sensory considerations, helping them decide whether a place meets their individual access needs.

Anyone can contribute to Sociability by adding photos, sharing an Experience or flagging an Alert. Contributions are reviewed by the Sociability team and relevant accessibility information is added to the platform to help keep information useful and consistent.

Sociability began as a student project at the University of Oxford, founded by Matt Pierri. The app launched in 2019 and Sociability became a company in 2020, with a mission to make accessibility information easier to find, understand and share.

Today, Sociability features accessibility information for almost 20,000 places across the UK and works with Disabled people, communities, businesses, local authorities and other organisations to improve access to reliable accessibility information.
