Brand story
Your go to place for all things Sociability!
Where it all began
Sociability was founded by Matt Pierri, a Rhodes Scholar who moved from Australia to study at the University of Oxford in 2017. As a wheelchair user arriving in a new country, Matt quickly realised how difficult it was to find out which colleges and accommodations were accessible.
Frustrated by the lack of reliable accessibility information on campus, Matt launched the Oxford Accessibility Project, a grassroots initiative to document and share access into Oxford's colleges and halls, helping others navigate the same challenges with more confidence.
From student project to startup
In 2019, the project evolved into a mobile app, and by 200, Sociability officially became a company. What began as a small, local effort grew into a national mission: to empower disabled people with the clear, reliable accessibility information they need to explore the world with greater independence and confidence
Designed with, not just for the community
Sociability is proudly disability-led and co-designed with disabled people from day one. Every feature, process and partnership is shaped by lived experience, with the goal of creating tools that are genuinely useful, practical, and empowering
A growing movement
Since launch, Sociability has mapped thousands of venues across the UK, from independent cafés to major chains. The company partners with individuals, businesses, and cities to improve access, raise awareness, and bring inclusion to the forefront.
