Sociability Turns 2!

On 2nd September colleagues and friends gathered to celebrate the second birthday of Sociability. We wanted to host a night where we could look back and celebrate what we’ve achieved so far but to also thank friends and fellow app users for all of their support. We decked out our headquarters in London with our main brand colours navy and orange to welcome our guests. We even had our own branded cupcakes! Shout out to our team member Jennie for being the top event planner.

The room looked fantastic in the end - it may even have been worth nearly passing out blowing up the balloons for the archway entrance, just..! Taking it back to the beginning On the night, Matt, the CEO of Sociability, welcomed and thanked guests for attending and also shared some words on the background of the app and why it was created in the first place.
For those who didn’t attend and don’t know the story - it all started with Matt gaining a place at Oxford University and being unable to find accessible accommodation and local areas to socialise. After all, needing accessibility information is something that impacts so many aspects of our lives. That’s where the Sociability app was born - a place to map the accessibility of venues to therefore empower disabled people to be able to make their own choices about where to go and socialise. 

Celebrations all round!

Ultimately the app wouldn’t be what it is without our friends and regular users. It was fantastic to gather together and catch up. Due to Covid-19 this was the first time we were able to host something face-to-face so it felt even more special. In light of this we also decided to host some fun awards on the night too. The awards ranged from “Most enthusiastic mapper” to “Best Social Media Supporter”. It was great to recognise some of our supporters and thank them for all of their support and user testing they’ve provided over the last 2 years. 
The drinks were flowing, photos were snapped and everyone had a great night. We loved what Aly one of our regular users and mappers of the Sociability app had to say after the night on our Instagram “Sociability is so much more than just an app and it's a pleasure to be involved and see it grow."

"What a wonderful evening! It was fantastic to see so many friendly faces from every stage of our journey together in the same room. It was also a really important chance to pause and reflect on all that we've managed to build these past two years – something we definitely don't do enough of. We're truly just getting started and we cannot wait to keep growing this fantastic community of Sociability users, and to empower disabled people across the country, and hopefully – soon – the world."
